CMV FOUNDATION

TREES FOR LIFE - NEW PREMISES OPENING MARCH 2007

Project Background
The Trustees of the CMV Foundation are delighted to announce that they have made the largest donation in the Foundation’s history to a single cause. Recognising that the entire world desperately needs to do a better job looking after our natural environment, they targeted an environmental organisation, Trees For Life, as the
recipient.

The Trees For Life organisation was founded 25 years ago in South Australia, and today boasts a membership of nearly 10,000 members and has been responsible for planting in excess of 28 million trees. Trees For Life, was facing an uncertain future as they were about to lose their office accommodation area and propagating facilities. The Trustees began discussions with their Management to explore how they could help them find a new home of their own to ensure their long term survival and growth to the benefit of the entire community. The next chapter in the Trees For Life story was a very happy one, when on the 30th June 2006 they took possession of their new home. The Foundation’s contribution towards the outright purchase of this very suitable property, was the catalyst to make it happen.

C.M.V VOLVO - ABOUT US

South Central Trucks Volvo is a subsidiary of the CMV Group, a privately owned SA based company that was established in 1934 with a staff of five. It has developed into a third generation family owned organisation, employing over 1000 employees with substantial operations in South Australian and Victoria. The CMV Group has over 70 years experience in a variety of markets, including Australia’s automotive, commercial and agricultural industries.

In 1968 the CMV Group established one of Australia’s first Volvo dealers – CMV Voltruck. At that time, Volvo trucks had only been introduced into Australia the year before, despite having been in Europe since 1927. Since then, the business has grown substantially and Volvo is now a main stream brand in the Australian market.

CMV Voltruck changed its name to South Central Trucks in 2006, following the acquisition of the Adelaide Mack dealership. South Central Trucks is one of South Australia’s largest truck dealerships, with a reputation for quality service and strong customer relations. South Central Trucks Volvo was the Australian Volvo Truck dealer of the year in 2005 and runner up in 2006.

The Volvo Brand

Volvo Trucks celebrated their 80th birthday in 2007. Founded in 1927 in Sweden, Volvo AB has become one of the world’s leading providers of transport solutions, represented in 130 countries globally. Volvo has many truck assembly plants, including a factory in Brisbane which builds all FM & FH product sold in Australia. Having a local manufacturing base means Volvo trucks can be custom built to suit a customer’s requirements and Australian conditions.

In the late 1990’s Volvo sold their car operations to Ford and now focus only on industrial vehicles, engines and equipment. In 2006 the Volvo group sold over 180,000 trucks world wide. Core Volvo brands include:

Volvo trucks

Volvo Penta marine
Volvo Aerospace
Mack Trucks
Renault Trucks
